Job openings in Missouri

First, any college senior or grad student in the fields of urban planning, public policy, geography, or a related field might check out this paid internship with the city of Clayton, Missouri.  According to the job description, responsibilities include:
  • drafting zoning code amendments; research, data collection and analysis; planning and participating in public outreach; assistance with implementation of downtown Master Plan; GIS mapping; and administrative support.
Next, the City of Normandy, Missouri is hiring a city administrator.  Here's a copy of their posting:

I am looking for a part-time Data Manager to work with me on HOME WORKS! The Teacher Home Visit Program. Let me know if you - or someone you know - would make a great Data Manager and have a passion for improving children's education.
HOME WORKS! The Teacher Home Visit Program trains, pays, and supports teachers in low-income schools to equip parents with tools and strategies to be engaged in their children’s education through home visits. Our program currently serves 33 schools in Missouri. Over the past seven years, we have experienced success and are growing. Learn more about us at www.teacherhomevisit.org.

We are currently seeking a dynamic Project/Data Manager. The successful candidate must be skilled in data, project management, and communications. A highly desirable candidate must have some background in data formatting and collection and database construction. This position directly reports to the Founder/Executive Director and includes the following responsibilities:
  • Operations: Construct and maintain an internal database for HOME WORKS! to organize and store past, present, and future data collected. Locate and organize data from previous evaluations.
  • Fundraising: Assist the Founder/Executive Director and Grants Manager with development efforts by providing timely and accurate data when requested for grant proposals and grant compliance reports. 
  • Quality Management: Work with Evaluators to provide necessary data for analysis. Work with the Program Directors, the Director of Professional Development, and appropriate school district personnel to collect data to be used for evaluation.
  • Passion and Service: Possess passion for the organization’s mission and vision and acknowledge that quality education is a top priority. Agree with the guiding principles and core values of HOME WORKS!; respect the schools, employees, board members, and all other constituents; and display professional and ethical behavior at all times.
  • Miscellaneous: Report data as necessary when requested.
Qualified candidates must have:
  • Completed a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience cleaning and preparing data for analysis.
  • Experience with research, data collection, and data analysis.
  • Strong data entry capabilities.
  • Strong software skills, especially proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including familiarity with using formulas in spreadsheets.
  • Familiarity with importing and exporting data into a database.
  • Experience modifying and managing databases.
  • Ability to follow through and complete multi-step projects that involve other people.
  • Recent experience with SPSS or another statistical software package. 3-5 years of experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to effectively multi-task, work productively with other people, think strategically, and be a self-starter.
  • Comfort working at the Executive Director’s home office and not be allergic to cats or dogs.
